The Short Story- Bio.
I started acting in the 4th grade. Took some time away to be a kid and play sports, but found out in High School I still had a knack. In college, after playing HAMLET I dedicated myself to the theatre and by 22 years old began working Professionally in regional Theatre. Around 28, I figured I needed more specific direction so I went to Graduate School, then to NYC. I continued to work the regions and finally decided to stay put in the City. Made a decision to open a bakery with my then girlfriend Jen, and found myself joined to that business for the next 11 years. Jen and I split up, but continued to run This Chick Bakes together until we sold it 2013. After so many years half-way-away from acting, I started over. Now I’m married to Michele and we have 5 year old Wyatt. She and I are both actors and Wyatt is incredible!
Teaching
As a teaching artist, I have worked at New York University (co-teacher with Phylicia Rashad), American Globe Theatre (Shakespeare First Folio Technique), University of Texas/ Austin, Penn State University, Muhlenberg College, Florida State University Graduate Film School and New York Film Academy where I am currently teaching Acting for Film, Scene Study and the Meisner Technique.
Directing
I have collaborated and directed scenes, full length plays and on-camera scenes and auditions.
My involvement in the formation of Shenandoah Shakespeare Express (Now American Shakespeare Center) introduced me to managing/acting with a Touring company and adapting our shows to each new space we performed in. My lifelong commitment has allowed me to engage in all facets of the theatre. Currently I am turning my focus to film, screenplays and film scores.
